Albert G. Prodell Middle School eighth grade Family and Consumer Sciences students concluded their semester with an impressive final project: creating elaborate charcuterie boards. This project was more than just a culinary exercise; it was a comprehensive demonstration of essential life skills.

Students showcased remarkable knife skills, practicing precision and safety throughout the preparation. The project fostered strong teamwork and collaboration as groups of students designed and assembled their boards. Beyond just food preparation, the students refined their kitchen and culinary skills, demonstrating an understanding of various techniques and food handling.

A standout aspect of the project was the incredible food artistry on display, with students transforming simple ingredients into visually stunning arrangements. Practical real-world skills were also honed, as groups were tasked with budgeting for their ingredients, making thoughtful choices to maximize their resources.

FACS teacher Ms. Michaela Berg shared her pride in the students’ hard work, patience and dedication throughout the semester. Their ability to work collaboratively and produce such high-quality results highlights the valuable skill development happening in the Family and Consumer Sciences program.
