For Shoreham-Wading River High School’s second annual Poetry Under the Stars on May 22, an eager crowd of spectators gathered to hear original poetry from SWRHS students.
English teacher Sara Trenn served a master of ceremonies, welcomed all to the podium and encouraged audience members to share their feedback by way of finger snaps.
The literary event brought together student readers, Director of Humanities Nicole Waldbauer, English teacher Jennifer Nazer, alumni and SWR graduate Gina Mingoia, who read excerpts from her published work “The Dust Settles.”
The event inspired students to speak publicly and to engage in self-expression with original works of art.
Great works by students Maggie Andersen, Bobby Darin, Emmie Ingrassia, Everett McClintock, Isabelle Scherl, and Andrew Wicks for sharing their talents. Ms. Meredith Barron, Mr. Tyler Macdowell and Superintendent of Schools Mr. Gerard Poole, Ms. Pileigh Shahinian, also shared their voices.
Thanks also to Rich Bottenus and the technical crew students for all their work in making it a successful star-filled evening!
