Students Know That Mental Health Matters

Albert G. Prodell Middle School students are honoring the Wildcats with Character trait of the month of resilience and sharing information on Mental Health Awareness Month.

The monthlong recognition helps to illuminate the journeys of those navigating mental health challenges and to cultivate environments of support and understanding.

Student Council members, the Leadership Club and advisers Lauren Waldron and Eugene Sicoli set up a table on the first week’s “Thoughtful Thursday” so students and staff could write notes of encouragement and positivity on drink sleeves. They either wrote the message for their own drink containers or left them on the table for others to admire or to take home.

In addition to Thoughtful Thursdays, Prodell joins Shoreham-Wading River High School, Wading River School and Miller Avenue School in Mindful Mondays, Take Action Tuesdays, Wear Green Wednesdays and Feel-Good Fridays.
