Shoreham-Wading River High School students had an up-close experience with police operations when they visited the Suffolk County Police Department’s Yaphank headquarters on May 5.

The Criminal Justice students, along with teacher Ruth Squillace, learned about law enforcement during the department’s annual Police Week, which works to highlight the importance of law enforcement in our communities. The students were introduced to the particulars of careers in law enforcement, toured the police museum, checked out the emergency services vehicles, and participated in demonstrations on CPR and other life-saving techniques.
