Curriculum & Instruction

On this page you will find links to information related to the various curricular and instructional initiatives and programs offered to our students. At every grade from Kindergarten through graduation we strive to create programs of study that challenge our learners and provide the tools and support necessary for them to meet with success at every step along their school journey.

Through our collaboration with Teachers College, teachers and administrators receive targeted instruction on the most current research for supporting young readers and writers at all levels. These workshops and on-site professional development opportunities provide ongoing support of our English Language Arts program and encourage reading and writing across the curricula. This professional collaboration also provides opportunities throughout the school year for both parents and students to participate in workshops designed to help support student learning in the classroom. As these workshops approach, they will be posted on this page. The tab to the left provides more information on our literacy initiatives, including our reading support programs Fundations and Words their Way.

This year we have initiated an exciting new program for our sixth grade students in Mathematics. Students will now have the opportunity to explore mathematics through an accelerated program that will have them prepared to complete the Integrated Algebra Regents course in grade 8. The topic outline for the sixth grade accelerated program can be found through the indicated tab on the left margin.

We are continually reviewing and adapting our curricula based on the latest research into how students learn. Many exciting changes lie ahead as we prepare our students for success with the newly adopted Common Core State Standards and the skills which will enable them to become active contributors to 21st century society.
