Community Programs

Shoreham-Wading River Community Programs offers a variety of recreational activities through its after-school educational program. These programs are designed to promote creative expression and intellectual curiosity.

Our Community Recreation provides programs for all ages. There is a Teen Rec for Middle School students on selected weekend evenings and an array of sports clubs and camps for the noninterscholastic competitor throughout the year for instructional and recreational purposes. Adult programs are offered as well. We sponsor the 4 th of July and Thanksgiving Day Races, with a portion of the proceeds funding the Community Programs Scholarship Program. The Fitness Center, open to all high school students with memberships available to community residents, is located on the eastern boundary of the High School property. Our staff will lead you through a program of weight training and fitness techniques, while building muscle tone and stamina.

Community Education provides a wide variety of classes throughout the year to promote a community of lifelong learning. Courses include academics, fine arts, leisure, sports and fitness, and music and dance activities. The SWR Community Band provide an avenue for creativity and entertainment for our community.

High School students may enroll in our Driver Education Program offered throughout the year. Students must reach their 16 th birthday by the start of the program. Programs begin in September, February, and July.

Questions and/or comments about the Community Programs should be directed to Coordinator Paul Koretzki at the District Office: (631) 821-8116 or look below for information on upcoming events.
