Board of Education Committees

The Board of Education welcomes resident participation on Board of Education Advisory Committees.  Advisory Committees serve to inform the Board of Education and to assist in the implementation of District goals.  All committees include Board of Education trustees and District administrators.

For a description of each committee please see below: 

Audit Committee – is a mandated committee by the New York State Comptroller and operates according to the Audit Committee Charter.  The Committee has two primary functions: to assist in the oversight of the annual external audit and assist in the oversight of the internal audit function.  This Committee is comprised of three (3) Board members, the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations and community members.  All members of this Committee must take an Oath of Office.  In the past, the Committee has met in the evening.   

Health and Safety Committee – is mandated by OSHA and NYSED.  The purpose of the Committee is to address any safety concerns that may arise in the District.  This Committee is comprised of the Superintendent, Director of Plant Facilities III, building principles, faculty, security, BOCES Safety Officer, Board member(s) - students are welcome.  This Committee meets during the day. 

Technology Committee - reviews the District’s Technology Plan, reviews policies related to District technology, reviews the existing technology to see if it is in accordance with the plan and considers if the Plan needs revision.  This Committee is comprised of teachers, administrators, staff, community members and Board member(s).  In the past, the Committee has met in the evening.     

Policy Committee – reviews policies that need revisions because laws or regulations have changed or because district practices have or should change.  Members review current and proposed policies and perhaps other districts’ policies before recommending policy changes to the Board.  If needed, the Committee will draft a new policy.  The entire Board must review each policy at least two times before adopting it.  This Committee is comprised of Board member(s), the Superintendent, and the District Clerk.  In the past, the Committee has met in the early evening.    

Legislative Committee - works with surrounding districts and local legislators to ensure that State laws and Board of Regents policies benefit our district. This Committee is comprised of Board member(s), community members and the Superintendent.  In the past, the Committee has met in the evening.        

Space and Facilities Committee - works preparing for the capital projects and bond projects.  This Committee is comprised of Board member(s), the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations, Director of Plant Facilities III and community members.  In the past, the Committee has met in the evening.
