With an agenda filled with important information, safety and security procedures, accolades for districtwide staff members who reached milestone anniversaries and an introduction to new staff members, the Shoreham-Wading River School District commenced the 2019-20 school year on Sept. 3 during its Superintendent’s Conference Day.

Welcomed by Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Mr. Alan Meinster, and with encouraging words from Board of Education Vice President Mrs. Katie Anderson, Wading River School Principal Mr. Louis Parrinello, SWR Teacher’s Association President Mrs. Mary Hygom and Civil Service Employees Association President Mrs. Mary Jean Carlson, District staff started the school year with a renewed sense of what it means to be a part of the Shoreham-Wading River school community.

Superintendent of Schools Mr. Gerard Poole shared some of the outstanding moments of the past year’s academic, athletic and musical successes and highlights, including the first Wellness Fair, the annual STEAM Symposium, student fundraisers, and state and national accolades bestowed upon the District schools. He then reiterated the District’s newly adopted five-year Strategic Plan and noted that it will build upon the past strengths of the District.

The remainder of the conference included staff reporting to their respective buildings in preparation for opening day on Wednesday, Sept. 4.
