With an agenda filled with important information, safety and
security procedures, accolades for districtwide staff members who
reached milestone anniversaries and an introduction to new staff
members, the Shoreham-Wading River School District commenced the 2019-20
school year on Sept. 3 during its Superintendent’s Conference Day.
Welcomed by Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum,
Instruction and Assessment Mr. Alan Meinster, and with encouraging words
from Board of Education Vice President Mrs. Katie Anderson, Wading
River School Principal Mr. Louis Parrinello, SWR Teacher’s Association
President Mrs. Mary Hygom and Civil Service Employees Association
President Mrs. Mary Jean Carlson, District staff started the school year
with a renewed sense of what it means to be a part of the
Shoreham-Wading River school community.
Superintendent of Schools Mr. Gerard Poole shared some of
the outstanding moments of the past year’s academic, athletic and
musical successes and highlights, including the first Wellness Fair, the
annual STEAM Symposium, student fundraisers, and state and national
accolades bestowed upon the District schools. He then reiterated the
District’s newly adopted five-year Strategic Plan and noted that it will
build upon the past strengths of the District.
The remainder of the conference included staff reporting to
their respective buildings in preparation for opening day on Wednesday,
Sept. 4.
