The District has just been notified that a suspicious, grey, four door Chrysler occupied by an older male was parked on Monticello Drive in Shoreham yesterday near a bus stop. The Suffolk County Police Department is currently investigating this matter.
As a school district we take matters of student safety and security very seriously and remain steadfast in our efforts to safeguard all. This latest incident serves as an important reminder that if you see something, say something. Shoreham-Wading River is a beautiful and safe community, but it is important that we remain vigilant in our collective efforts to maintain that sense of security. Please take this opportunity to have conversations with your child/children about remaining aware of their surroundings when traveling to and from school, as well as discuss the appropriate steps to take in an emergency.
I will be sure to provide any updates on this matter when they become available.
