Prodell Middle School eighth-grade students learned several important tips for how to stay safe in cyberspace during a recent assembly program hosted by Detective Daniel Fandrey of the Suffolk County Police Department Computer Crimes Unit.

Organized by Prodell Principal Kevin Vann, the presentation helped to reinforce the district’s ongoing efforts to promote middle school students’ positive health and safety choices by encouraging definitive strategies for a stronger social, emotional and mental health foundation.

Detective Fandrey presented in an assembly format the division’s mission to reduce cyber-related crimes and educate students on internet safety, online bullying and appropriate use of photos across all social media platforms.

According to Mr. Vann, the program was a fitting compliment to the district’s robust efforts toward this topic and helped to reinforce to students that in times of trouble help is always available from trusted friends, adults and the school’s guidance counselors, social worker and psychologist.
