The Shoreham-Wading River School District’s May 7 Board of Education meeting was a joyful place to be.

Shoreham-Wading River High School music teacher Kevin O’Brien proudly introduced students – senior Cassandra Keany, sophomore Aubrey Russo, junior Liam McQuade and sophomore Logan Jung on voice, drums, baritone sax and guitar, respectively – to perform two pieces, songwriter John Prine’s “Angel from Montgomery” and Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon.” Both songs, selected by Mr. O’Brien and the students, were written in the early 1970s and were performed for the Board trustees and community members to pay tribute again to the 50th anniversary of the Shoreham-Wading River School District to great applause.
