The Scientific Method at Work at Miller Avenue Science Fair

Shoreham-Wading River High School science students and staff pose with elementary school students in science fair thumbnail257412

Egg-citing Growth and Eggs-periments, Myth Busters, The Power of Wax and research on taste, smell and sound tests; were just a sampling of the vast display of original scientific experiments conducted by Miller Avenue’s K-2 graders as part of the annual science fair.

Shoreham-Wading River High School science students judged the work of the younger students using an evaluation rubric with criteria that included the originality of a student’s question, hypotheses, procedures, investigations, analysis and conclusion. The winners were kindergartner Neily Rogers (The Hollywood Hotel), first-grader Hunter Bernadino (Can you escape a black hole?) and second grader Brayden Stroh (Exploding Bags).

Thanks also to St. Joseph’s University students and Dr. Stadler for their scientific experiments that also contributed to another successful event.
