Global Awareness Club Recognizes World Needs

The Shoreham-Wading River High School Global Awareness Club raised $1293 with their spring flower bulb fundraiser which brings the club's total fundraising for Doctors Without Borders to over $2,000 so far this year! “An impressive feat fueled by baked goods, bulbs and a community dedicated to supporting our students and their global goals,” Advisor Brenna Gilroy said.

Fourteen students also volunteered their time at Shoreham Beach last week on a chilly, breezy morning to remove litter and other debris. The Global Awareness Club is made of determined young people who heaved hundreds of pounds of trash up to the parking lot, despite the severe incline.

“This year's leadership continues to fulfill the club's mission to support and improve both global and local communities,” Ms. Gilroy said. “I am fortunate to work with such good-willed students who are determined to have a positive impact here at home as well as internationally.”
