Shoreham-Wading River High School students in SADD, GSA and Act Now! clubs attended the Stage the Change conference at LIU. The conference, a one-day event filled with panel discussions, interactive workshops, keynote speakers and student performances, is sponsored by the Arts Reach Fund at Long Island Community Foundation and the New York State Council on the Arts. The purpose is to encourage and enable students to produce their own original works of theater, film and dance. The conference serves to launch new works created by students, which they can showcase in their own communities and, at the same time, inspire change. When they returned to school, the students were excited to share what they learned with their peers.
