Prodell Middle School kicked off the Wildcats with Character program with the trait of respect for September.
Each month at Prodell, students and staff will focus on a different character trait, and at the end of the month, teachers will nominate students who they feel have exemplified that month’s Wildcats with Character trait. These students will be the Wildcats with Character Students of the Month.
The first cohort of students was recognized by being called down to the main office as a group and awarding them a certificate and a small prize for exemplifying the important trait of respect. “The smiles on these students’ faces after hearing why they were called down was priceless,” Assistant Principal Mrs. Lauren Biscardi said.
Beginning this year, students are also reciting a Wildcats with Character Quote of the Day each morning, focused on the monthly trait. In September, students and staff heard a different quote recited on the morning announcements each day by Mrs. Biscardi focused on respect. This will continue each month, with quotes based on the monthly trait.
“We want to keep each trait alive in the building throughout each month, and I felt that this was a good way to do that,” Mrs. Biscardi said. “It’s also beneficial in that it helps students and staff begin their day on a positive note, with words that hopefully resonate with them. I end every Quote of the Day announcement by saying, ‘Thank you, have a great day, and remember to always strive to be Wildcats with Character.’”
This year, along with the Quote of the Day, plans are in progress to occasionally have students complete small activities during their Advisory period at the beginning of the day that is focused on the monthly trait.
