Wading River School fifth graders visited Miller Avenue School kindergartners on May 16 for a boost to social, emotional and academic skills. Teachers effectively paired their students for a valuable morning of mentoring, reading, learning and making friends. Numerous students sent notes and cards to their buddies prior to meeting, some even being introduced on Google Meet to say hello.

Fifth grade teacher Melissa Levonick and kindergarten teacher Courtney VonBargen paired their students in hopes of creating a considerate community between the schools with both grade levels gaining valuable tools for learning and growing.

“The excitement flowing through the hallways of Miller Avenue was simply magical when they visited,” Mrs. VonBargen said.
