Shoreham-Wading River High School art teacher Samantha Shepard organized a field trip to The Heckscher Museum of Art in Huntington as part of the Long Island’s Best program for high school students.

Ms. Shepard, art teacher Jason Andria and the students enjoyed viewing the galleries. Some students created art based on a piece of artwork they were inspired by during the visit. Junior JiSeung Moon’s art (inspired by Joe Constantino’s “Old House Under Tree,” 2022) was selected as one of 91 students from 58 schools across Long Island to be part of Long Island’s Best: Young Artists at the Heckscher Museum.

“This is a major achievement for JiSeung and the Shoreham-Wading River High School art department,” Mr. Andria said.

Mr. Andria and Ms. Shepard were both honored with Teacher Recognition Award certificates for encouraging and inspiring students in their creative pursuits.
