Shoreham-Wading River High School junior Nicholas Friedlander won the award for Best Feature at Suffolk County Community College’s Radio and TV High School Media Competition held on April 4.

A member of the school’s popular Media Production Club, Nick’s video was selected as one of five winners after judges viewed more than 40 submissions from high school students across Suffolk County.

His video was a unique take on the peril and potential of artificial intelligence programs like ChatGPT. Mr. Vincent Ball and Mr. Brendan Gilley, co-advisers to the club, showed their support for Nick at the awards reception in Suffolk County Community College’s TV studio, where those involved received a tour of the program’s facilities.

“Nick’s attention to detail is what makes him a super-talented video producer,” Mr. Ball said. “We can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.”
