Shoreham-Wading River High School student Sasha Seletskaya continues her work in the Brookhaven National Laboratory’s SPARK (Student Partnerships for Advanced Research and Knowledge) program. A student in High School Science Research teacher Mrs. Dana Schaefer’s class, Sasha worked at BNL’s TES and SRX beamlines at the NSLS-II, prepping and running samples from a carbonaceous chondrite meteor found in Northwest Africa. She is analyzing the elements contained within the chondrite to determine if organic compounds or precursors could have been brought to Earth from the meteors, which then contributed to eventual life on earth.
