SWR Global Awareness thumbnail239135
During the 2021-22 school year, Shoreham-Wading River High School’s Global Awareness Club raised $1,300 for Save the Children Ukraine and $500 for the Afghan Institute of Learning. Along with adviser Ms. Brenna Gilroy, last year’s officers Anja Minty (president), Rachel Scarborough (vice president), Elizabeth Holden (treasurer), Sara McAuliffe (secretary) and members worked diligently on various fundraisers to make that happen.

The group’s work continues.

This year, the club is fundraising for The Water Project, a charity that provides access to clean, safe and reliable water and sanitation solutions across sub-Saharan Africa. The 2022-23 student-leaders: Anja Minty (president), Asma Rashidzada (vice president), Lena Leo (treasurer) and Ella Larson (secretary) and members have already raised over $500. Of course, the early winter school days were the perfect time for a hot chocolate sale, which raised $305!

The Shoreham-Wading River School District thanks these student changemakers for their volunteer efforts, leadership skills and continued work in transforming the world for the good of all!
