The students in Shoreham-Wading River High School’s science research program participated in another year of data collection through the Day in the Life of the Peconic Estuary Program, sponsored by Brookhaven National Laboratory, the Central Pine Barrens Commission and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. This citizen science program allows students to perform authentic experimentation in environmental science by measuring water quality and physical characteristics of the estuary and sampling the biological diversity at the Indian Island location. They were accompanied by science research teacher Dana Schaefer.
