“Every day is a party, so dance.”

“Celebrate who you are.”

“You make a difference.”

“Make someone smile.”

These messages of togetherness were written on sticky notes and posted on lockers and on faculty mail slots in Albert G. Prodell Middle School to celebrate Unity Day on Oct. 19.

The school’s Leadership Club, along with adviser and school counselor Ms. Kaitlin Moriarty, brainstormed in the library to create notes that would bring a smile to their peers. With students and staff dressed in orange, the color that signifies unity for kindness, acceptance and inclusion, Prodell student-leaders are at the forefront of sending a visible message that no child should ever experience bullying.

“We are so pleased with all the students working together to make this a successful event,” Ms. Moriarty said. “The goal is to continue to share the meaning of Unity Day every day.”
