The Shoreham-Wading River High School SADD Club recognized the Sandy Hook Promise Start With Hello week (Sept. 19-23) with a variety of activities.
The week was created for students to help prevent social isolation and increase a sense of belonging among their peers. On Monday, SADD members served as a welcoming committee for those entering the building. Tuesday student Upstanders were nominated by teachers, and on Wednesday, many wore green to share in Sandy Hook’s color of promise. On Thursday, students wrote gratitude letters to a trusted adult and on Friday they pledged to spread empathy for others and to try to create a welcoming school environment.
