SWR Readies for New School Year!

The Shoreham-Wading River School District commenced the 2022-23 school year on Aug. 31 during its Superintendent’s Conference Day. After a continental breakfast and a welcome from Mr. Alan Meinster, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, and staff recognitions from Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Mr. Brian Heyward, Superintendent of Schools Mr. Gerard Poole rallied the staff with hopefulness and confidence for a successful year ahead.

The talks were followed by safety and security training presented by members of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office as well as an overview of the district’s comprehensive safety protocols and planning effort, Project SAVE, and mental health resource training. The remainder of the conference included staff reporting to their respective buildings for building-level meetings in preparation for opening day on Thursday, Sept. 1.
