Teachers, staff and parents are gearing up for a new school year in Miller Avenue School, and Aug. 29 was a day to welcome the newest kindergarten class. Students met in groups with Principal Claudia Smith for an overview of what the school year will be like during the orientation session. The new students got to meet their teachers and new classmates and took walking tours to the library, gymnasium, art room, main office, nurse’s office and playground.
The sunny morning included ice pops and a bus ride so the children could familiarize themselves with their new school and staff members, while forming their first connections with the Shoreham-Wading River school community prior to starting school on Sept. 1.
