The Shoreham-Wading River School District congratulates several employees on their retirement. Collectively, more than 257 years have been dedicated to serving the students of the district. They were each recognized with kind words and a gift of appreciation for their years of commitment to Shoreham-Wading River students at the June 21 Board of Education meeting. Superintendent of Schools Gerard Poole lauded them for their compassion, commitment and excellence throughout their careers in Shoreham-Wading River.

At the meeting, Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations Glen Acuri lauded Joan Shamoun, Miller Avenue Principal Claudia Smith congratulated Patricia LeDeoux, Albert G. Prodell Middle School Principal Kevin Vann lauded Alison Rossin and Shoreham-Wading River High School Principal Frank Pugliese thanked Frank Lattuga and Chris Liszanckie. Mr. Acuri also shared gratitude to Director of Facilities Angelo Andreotti for his service to the district.

Wading River School Principal Louis Parrinello then took the opportunity to thank teaching assistant Theresa Geismar for her exceptional demonstration of skills aiding students with special needs. Third grade teacher Marie Wern was also thanked for sharing the joys of mathematics and being instrumental in introducing Eureka math in the district. Mr. Vann also thanked head custodian Mr. Corrie Ames, whom he cited as instrumental in the remodel of the main office and Mrs. Debra Anderson, his colleague for the past five years and her more than 20 years in making everyone feel like a part of the Prodell family. Mr. Pugliese also lauded English as a New Language teacher Susana Vique-Kearney for her immeasurable impact and advocacy on behalf of district students and congratulated social studies teacher Erin Schmalzle for her 31 years in the classroom and her commitment to making Shoreham-Wading River a better place.

On behalf of the students of the district, all are wished a happy and healthy retirement.
