Music was in the air at the April 12 Shoreham-Wading River Board of Education meeting. Attendees were greeted with a song from Albert G. Prodell Middle School student Anthony Mango who sang a solo from the recent performance of “Fame The Musical JR.” Shoreham-Wading River High School’s Madison McQuade sang a solo from the school’s recent production of “Fiddler on the Roof.”

The Board of Education honored the many students from Albert G. Prodell Middle School, Shoreham-Wading River High School and Wading River School who were selected to various music festivals. Fourteen Shoreham-Wading River High School students were each selected to participate in the New York State Council of Administrators of Music Education All-County Music Festival. The students were selected along with others from Suffolk County high schools on a competitive basis with New York State School Music Association scores as the main criteria along with teacher recommendations. Dozens of students were also honored for their participation in the Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association’s All-County Music Festival and the Long Island String Festival.
