Collaboration is key at Shoreham-Wading River High School. Principal Mr. Frank Pugliese noticed a call for submissions to the Suffolk County Bicycle Safety Video Contest. He shared the information with Media Production Club advisers Mr. Vinny Ball and Mr. Brendan Gilley, who in turn shared it with the club members. The combined creativity of students Jack D’Andrea, Nicholas Friedlander, Chris Vignola and James Wicks resulted in an original and expressive piece that was entered into the contest.

The video won first place.

“This is really excellent news,” Mr. Ball said. “All of the credit goes to the students. They displayed a high level of initiative in tackling this project head-on. Their desire to collaborate was organic and refreshing to see.”

Mr. Gilley also shared his enthusiasm for the award and thanked the District for making the Media Production Club a welcoming place for students to freely collaborate and challenge themselves. “The students are absolutely ecstatic that they’ve won,” he said. “We appreciate all of the support, and we hope to use this example of success as motivation for future Media Production Club endeavors.”

The students will be honored at the upcoming General Meeting of the Suffolk County Legislature.
