Shoreham-Wading River High School National History Day Club advisers Mr. Michael Buscemi and Mrs. Maria Lovasco introduced club member and National History Day entrant Melanie Hagen at the March 22 Board of Education meeting.

Melanie shared her project for the National History Day topic of “Debate and Diplomacy in History.” Her research centered on the U.S. Supreme Court case Buck v. Bell, which set a legal precedent that individual states could sterilize inmates of public institutions.

Melanie was recognized with a Shoreham-Wading River Board of Education pin of excellence by Superintendent of Schools Gerard Poole and applauded for her extensive research by the Board members.
