Second graders in Miller Avenue School continue to refine their English language arts skills and recently hosted a celebration to highlight their nonfiction writing curriculum. Second grade teacher Courtney Von Bargen and her students transformed the classroom into a museum where each student shared their knowledge of the topic they wrote about, from snowballs to sports to cookie making, among others. Special visitors including school psychologist Mrs. Madeleine Everhart and Mrs. Aimee Schwabe’s class cycled around learning about the chosen topics.

In addition to being able to share some of their interests and build upon their social and public-speaking skills, the students were excited for the feedback they received when each visitor wrote a compliment on their work.
