Albert G. Prodell Middle School students were in for an early holiday treat when Shoreham-Wading River High School junior Carter Rubin visited Mrs. Danielle Senneca’s research students.

Carter, a talented singer who has appeared in many concerts as a member of SWR’s school choirs and dramatic productions, and earlier this year was selected as a Tenor 2 alternate in the New York State School Music Association’s All-State performing ensembles, also happens to be the youngest male to take the championship title from “The Voice,” an honor that he won in December of 2020.

He spoke with the students about his journey on “The Voice,” his music career and his decision to submit an audition video that led to where he is today. He encouraged the students to never give up on their dreams because you never know where they will take you.

“I am so proud of Carter for his accomplishments, but even more so for the incredible person that he is,” Mrs. Senneca said, noting his performances in the middle school musicals when he was in grades 6, 7 and 8. “To have him back is amazing. His voice brings joy to the entire school community; he is a true hometown hero!”
