Shoreham-Wading River High School students, sophomore Maya Beyersdorfer and senior Kiersten Murray, joined art teacher Samantha Shepard in the Suffolk County Art Leaders Association Invitational Show, which celebrates the very essence of art education. The exhibition was an opportunity for member art teachers and their selected students to exhibit alongside them, sharing their considerable creativity. The opening exhibit was at the Islip Arts Council Satellite Gallery in the Westfield Mall in Bay Shore.

Maya’s charcoal still life and Kiersten’s colored pencil still life, both untitled, were showcased with Shepard’s charcoal “Life’s Essentials.”

As part of its mission, the Suffolk County Art Leaders Association recognizes the importance of highlighting the physical manifestations that develop out of the mentor/mentee relationship from both perspectives. The exhibit is an opportunity to give visual voice to imagination, exploration and discovery.
