Patriotic displays and flags decorated Albert G. Prodell Middle School; student musical performances were led by Mrs. James Finnerty, Mr. John Samonte and Mr. Fred Volz; students participated in a gratitude project in their advisories; cards were delivered to visiting veterans to bring to the VFW post and the culminating event, an eighth grade assembly where guest veterans spoke to students about their experiences in the military, made this Veterans Day extra special.

The school honored Senior Master Sgt. Michael Wern, Air Force; Sgt. Pat Biglin, Air Force and Army; Lance Cpl. William Fitz, Marines and Lt. Dan Guida, Army, for their service.

“It takes a village to plan these incredible events, and the Prodell Middle School Veterans Day committee did an incredible job,” social studies teacher Danielle Senneca said. “The veterans were truly touched by all of the details.”

Special thanks to the committee members who played a part in honoring the men and women who served our country: Joel Carrasco, Corinne Fallon, James Finnerty, Kaitlyn Moriarti, John Samonte, Danielle Senneca, Michele Vitale, Fred Volz and Marissa Zambrano. Additional thanks to Barbara Spetta for her professionalism and technology assistance in making sure the PowerPoint was “on point,” Morgan O’Brien for her administrative assistance, Wayne Beatty for building the flagpole stands and Deb Andersen for her extra patriotic touches for our breakfast. Thank you to Principal Kevin Vann and Assistant Principal Dan Ackerman for their support in honoring our veterans in every corner of the middle school.
