SWR High School’s S.A.D.D. club started a new initiative to encourage others to be more socially inclusive. The students have adopted The Sandy Hook Promise’s Start with Hello campaign to help fellow students connect with one another. As part of the initiative, the students taped conversation starters to desks in the cafeteria to help facilitate communication between students who could be sitting alone.

Along with advisers Maryanne Agius and Melissa Hollywood, students Haylie Abrams, Sophie Costello, Maddie Fernandez, Brendan Friedlander, Nick Friedlander, Courtney Greene, Nadia Grosso, Hannah Kershis, Maddie Lynn Mckiernan and Johanna Oschenfeld created a short video with messages to empower their peers to end social isolation. They also wore green to support Sandy Hook and worked to educate each other and people outside of the school on ways to better connect with one another.
