Students in Briarcliff and Miller Avenue had a fun and interactive assembly program when the New York Islanders’ mascot Sparky and a representative joined them for a virtual visit. The focus of the program complemented the elementary Character Education program, with guidance on skills including important decision-making, treating others with respect, staying active and eating healthy. The program included an exercise warm-up, short videos showcasing teamwork on and off the ice, achieving goals and an interactive Q&A on making healthy choices. The event ended with a rousing rendition of the “Let’s Go Islanders” chant.
