Wading River’s Singing Meteorologist

While many may be growing weary of the cold weather and snow, Wading River School fifth grader Adalyna Villa donned her winter gear and boots during the recent snowstorm to provide the weather forecast on WBLI Radio 106.1 in an accurate and entertaining manner that even included some singing. The budding meteorologist and songstress made local headlines last spring, when as a fourth grader she wrote a song with lyrics that expressed her feelings during the early stages of the stay-at-home directive.

Adalyna wrote the lyrics for “Corona Craze” on her own and then shared it with Wading River School music teacher Mr. Mark Verity, who wrote and recorded a piano portion to accompany Adalyna’s voice. Mr. Verity wrote the accompaniment after hearing her sing the song a cappella, a unique way of creating the music. He sent that recording back to the family and they played the track while Adalyna sang the song. Then Adalyna performed with the recorded music, creating the finished song.
