The Shoreham-Wading River High School Tri-M Music Honor Society hosted two guest speakers who presented at the chapter’s most recent meetings. In January, Tri-M member and sophomore Carter Rubin spoke to the chapter about his experience on NBC’s “The Voice.” Carter talked about what it was like to perform on television, work with celebrity coaches and ultimately win the competition. He also answered questions from his fellow Tri-M members about his experience behind the scenes and what his future music plans include.

During the February meeting, musician Eric B. Davis spoke with the students about his experiences as a member of a Broadway pit orchestra, a composer and a professional guitarist who has toured with such renowned artists as Kristin Chenoweth. A colleague of music teacher and adviser Mrs. Ashley O’Connor, Mr. Davis provided valuable insight for students who may be interested in pursuing a career in music. He also encouraged the students to always follow their passions and to be lifelong learners.
