Prodell Middle School students and staff put great effort into the annual Red Ribbon Week, a nationally observed alcohol, tobacco, drugs and violence prevention awareness campaign. In addition to the annual pledges, spirit wear day and teaming up against bullying activities, students took part in a creative mask contest, in which they created drug-free slogans, and a guess-how-many candy contest.

Under the leadership of social worker Ms. Andrea Monz, who coordinates the annual event, and with help from the Student Council, the weeklong event highlighted information on Red Ribbon Week’s history and antibullying references, resiliency and choices in life.

Ms. Monz thanked her colleagues and the entire school community for helping to mold students into great thinkers and leaders and for being such a wonderful influence on them each step of the way. “They are taught, motivated and protected by the best superheroes around,” she said.

The school congratulates sixth graders Luke Tezcan and Abigail Copcutt and eighth grader Emma Granshaw for the most creative masks and eighth grader Camryn Loguercio for correctly guessing the jar contained 168 pieces of candy.
