Shoreham-Wading River High School senior Daniel Julian has qualified as a semifinalist in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program. According to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, Dan’s standing in the competition could not be determined in time to include in the published names of semifinalists originally sent to high schools in late August. Dan now has the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be o?ered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, he must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level of the competition. Over 90% of the semifinalists are expected to attain finalist standing, and more than half of the finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.
