Board of Education Bids Farewell to Retirees

The Shoreham-Wading River School District Board of Education honored several employees of the school district who retired at the end of the 2020 school year at the Oct. 6 Board of Education meeting. Miller Avenue School Principal Mrs. Claudia Smith read some messages from her colleagues honoring custodial crew member Mr. Leonard Martoscia for his 30 years of commitment to the district and his daily acts of kindness. Albert G. Prodell Middle School Principal Mr. Kevin Vann spoke highly of teaching assistant Mrs. Susan Hegarty for her compassion and positive attitude as a caring member of Prodell’s team, citing her enthusiasm and her influence on hundreds of district students and staff members. Shoreham-Wading River High School Principal Mr. Frank Pugliese honored teaching assistant Mrs. Diane Dracker for her 20 years of service as a valued member of the high school who put the needs of students and colleagues first. Mrs. Dracker, who moved out of state, was represented at the meeting by her three children and grandson.The retirees were applauded and each presented with a gift from Board of Education President Michael Lewis and Superintendent of Schools Gerard Poole. The Shoreham-Wading River School community applauds these retirees for their dedication and years of service and wishes them well in their new endeavors.
