Four SWR High School students have been selected as participants or alternates in New York State School Music Association’s All-State Performing Ensembles. Seniors Daniel Julian, Grace McMillan, Mika Misawa and Sarah Kruzynski were selected to take part in this unique opportunity. Dan will perform on both baritone saxophone and alto saxophone in the Instrumental Jazz ensemble; Grace was selected as an Alto 2 in the treble chorus; Mika will perform on violin in the symphony orchestra and Sarah, who also plays violin, was selected as an alternate.

The students were selected for the ensembles based on the evaluation scores and comments from the Spring 2019 NYSSMA assessment, along with detailed teacher recommendations. This year’s All-State experience will be different from previous years, as the festival will be virtual. The students will rehearse and perform as members of the virtual NYSSMA All-State concerts in early December. The virtual 2020 All-State concerts will be recorded at the conclusion of the scheduled rehearsals.
