Groups for Parents & Caregivers

Parenting Skills, School Avoidance and Screen Time Support

Summer can be a great time to build skills, confidence, and healthy habits ahead of the next school year. The CARE Initiative is offering a variety of virtual groups for parents and students focused on reducing anxiety, managing challenging behaviors, strengthening family relationships, and preparing for a successful return to school.

Incredible Years
For parents of children ages 4–12 with behavioral concerns, ADHD, or oppositional behaviors. This evidence-based program builds positive parenting skills that promote emotional regulation, social skills, and healthy child development while reducing challenging behaviors at home and school.


PATH: Promoting Adaptive Technology Habits
For parents of children ages 11–16 struggling with screen time and technology use.

Parents will learn practical strategies for setting limits, creating routines, improving communication, and encouraging healthier technology habits.

  • When: Tuesdays at 7 PM (eight sessions)
  • Leader: Anthony Anzalone, PsyD

School Avoidance
For caregivers of youth ages 10–16 experiencing school-related anxiety or school avoidance.

Learn research-supported strategies to help children manage anxiety, improve attendance, and build confidence.

  • When: Mondays at 1 PM (eight sessions)

Student Groups

Transitions, Confidence Building and Coping Skills

Summer Scaries
An eight-week group designed to help students manage school-related anxiety, social worries, and concerns about returning to the classroom.

  • Middle School Group (Grades 5–8): Mondays at 11 AM
  • High School Group (Grades 9–12): Wednesdays at 6 pm
  • Leader: Michele Germer, LCSW

A virtual three-session parent component which meets on Tuesdays at 6 pm is also included for both groups.

Middle School 101
For students ages 10–12 transitioning to middle school. Participants will develop coping skills, emotional regulation strategies, executive functioning skills, and tools for building healthy peer relationships.

When: Tuesdays at 11 AM (eight weeks)
Leader: Laura Germaine, LCSW

Girls Empowerment Group
For girls ages 12–14.
This skills-based group helps participants build self-confidence, emotional awareness, healthy coping skills, and positive peer relationships through guided activities and discussion.

When: Thursdays at 11 AM (six weeks)
Leader: Laura Germaine, LCSW
