The High School offers students the opportunity to participate in a number of sports. At Shoreham-Wading River High School, athletics means more than just playing on a team. Participation in a sport means developing meaningful relationships with teammates and coaches, learning good sportsmanship, teamwork, and creates a solid foundation for a healthy, active lifestyle.
Dear Shoreham-Wading River Community,
On behalf of the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District, I would like to welcome you to our Interscholastic Athletic Program. SWR takes tremendous pride in offering a wide variety of athletic opportunities for our students in grades 7 through 12. Our coaching staff consists of certified, dedicated professionals who are deeply committed to working with our student-athletes. They work tirelessly and truly care about the personal and athletic growth of every student under their guidance.
We are proud to offer modified, junior varsity, and varsity teams across our programs. The modified program introduces our younger student-athletes to middle school competition and prepares them for the next level. Moving into the high school level requires a higher refinement of skill, increased tactical comprehension, and a greater commitment to competition. Our varsity and junior varsity teams strive for excellence, practicing continuously to build cohesive, high-performing teams.
Shoreham-Wading River also places immense value on inclusion, fostering an athletic environment where every student has a place to belong, take healthy risks, and feel fully supported. Our programs provide a space where athletes are challenged to grow and work toward shared goals alongside their coaches and teammates.
The SWR Athletic Department believes that interscholastic athletics develops critical life skills that extend far beyond the game. Our program actively reinforces Wildcat Character. Each student-athlete is supported and encouraged to demonstrate these principles of Wildcat Character every time they represent our district on and off the field:
- Respect
- Gratitude
- Responsibility
- Generosity
- Compassion
- Acceptance
- Empathy
- Citizenship
If you have any questions about Wildcat Athletics or need additional details regarding a specific sport, please check our departmental contact directory or contact the SWR Athletic Office directly.
We look forward to partnering with you throughout your child's athletic journey at Shoreham-Wading River.
Go Wildcats!
Sincerely,
Debra Ferry
