Arrival Overview

The vast majority of our students attend early morning rehearsals in Band and/or Orchestra.  In addition, we have extra help on some mornings.   We also make accommodations for those who are shuttling children between both elementary buildings.  Please see below for the various arrival times.  Please be extra mindful to be on time so everything runs smoothly.

Regular Arrival: 9:05-9:15

• Students depart buses at this time and/or are dropped off.

Early Regular Arrival:  8:45-9:05

• This is for parents who are dropping their children at both WRS and MA.  We provide this early time for your convenience thanks to the dedication and extra efforts of our staff, children will wait in the hallway (often listening to some jazz music/having conversations) until they head to their classes at 9:05.

Extra Help Arrival Time:  8:15-8:35

• Students wait in the hallway until they head to extra help at 8:35 am.  Please arrive on time so your child will have their full extra help period.  The extra arrival time is provided so parents of both MA and WRS students may safely drive from one school to the other.  Extra help students must be dropped off since the early buses are reserved for Band/Orchestra/SRO students (and supervision for extra help begins at 8:15 am while early buses arrive before that).

Band/Orchestra Arrival Time:  8:05-8:15

• Early buses release our young musicians and parents may drop off their children for Band/Orchestra at this time.  Students head directly to Band/Orchestra when they arrive.  No Band/Orchestra students may be in the building before 8:05 am.

Essential Drop Off Procedures: 

1. Single lane of traffic, please stay in line (do NOT pass any vehicle)
2. Have children ready to depart with their backpack, instrument, etc…handy before you arrive.
3. Ensure children are dropped off using the passenger side (curbside) door.
4. Drive slowly and with extra caution

Please Note: 

• If you need to walk your child to the building for any reason, please park in the main lot and escort your child to the front entranceway.

Dismissal Overview

Students are encouraged to take the bus. If they are being picked up, please follow the procedures below:

1. Student pickup will run from 3:15-3:25 pm (we hope to be finished by then- it depends on the volume).
2. Please park in the main lot and walk to the south entrance (Student Pickup Area) with your child’s QR Code and/or Photo ID to sign out your child.  The QR Code makes it much faster for pickup. 
3. Your child will be dismissed from the Student Pickup Exit to you. 
4. If there is a change from bus to pickup (or visa-versa), please be sure to send a note in with your child to ensure they will go to the appropriate location at dismissal.  Phone calls during the day are disruptive to classroom routines and should only be used if there is an emergency.
5. Please be extra cautious in the parking lot/pickup area.
6. Your child will be directed to walk to your vehicle by an adult.

Important Note on Early Pickups 

Please do not try to pick your child up a few minutes before regular dismissal from the front vestibule, this just makes regular dismissal time more challenging and increases foot traffic to the front lobby during an already busy time.  If your child does need to go home early, please park in the lot and walk to the main entrance, picking them up by 2:30 pm to minimize any potential traffic challenges.

Parking Lot Safety

If possible, all children are encouraged to take the bus.

Parents dropping off children can do so by either dropping their children off in the designated drop off area (on the south side of the building) or by parking their car and walking their child to the curb so children are not walking through the parking lot where there are other vehicles in motion.  Note:  The bus loop is for buses only during arrival and departure times.

If you are parked in the eastern portion of the parking lot at arrival or dismissal time, you will be unable to leave before the buses depart.  There is no legal way to pass a bus loading or unloading children, so please plan ahead.

Please use extra caution when entering and leaving the parking lot, helping ensure student safety.
