Wading River School students and staff brought history to life on Sept. 17 in celebration of Constitution Day, stepping into the shoes of some of the people and symbols who helped shape the United States.

Students and staff were invited to dress as someone who helped form America or someone who has made an impact on U.S. history. The halls were filled with familiar faces from the past, including Teddy Roosevelt, Betsy Ross, George Washington, Lady Liberty and Rosie the Riveter. Principal Mr. Parrinello joined in the celebration, dressing as Abraham Lincoln. Other students wore red, white and blue, creating a patriotic atmosphere throughout the school.

The celebration also encouraged students to look beyond the costumes and learn more about the historical figures they represented. Students were given the opportunity to also write about the person or character they dressed as and share what they learned with their classmates.
