Miller Avenue kicked off its PARP week this May with a second grade American Symbol Parade that followed the initiative’s theme of “Reading From Sea to Shining Sea” in honor of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the country. 

Students proudly carried posters of the Liberty Bell, the Statue of Liberty, the White House and more as patriotic music filled the halls. This year, Miller Avenue teachers planned an exciting lineup of activities, including American history trivia, an American Symbol scavenger hunt, themed lessons in the library and a 250th Anniversary exercise challenge in physical education classes. Ms. Dobie, Miller Avenue’s music teacher, is collaborating with each grade level to create a special video in celebration of our country’s 250th anniversary.
