Getting a Jump-start on Future Careers

Miller Avenue Elementary School second graders had the chance to learn the ins and outs of a variety of professions during the school’s recent Career Day, a new initiative coordinated at the building by Lauren Santagata.
During the event, participating volunteers rotated through classrooms to discuss what they do and how their work supports the community. In addition to the facts they shared, some presenters offered hands-on demonstrations for the students, such as how to properly bandage a wound. Special thanks to those who donated their time to help make this year’s event a success, including:
- Melissa Russo, VP of Product Development and Design/Teleties
- Linda Aguanno, Forensic Genealogist
- Nicole Gaeta, ICU RN
- Joseph Gettler, Brookhaven Lab, writer
- Donna Hagon, Nurse Practitioner at Northwell Health Peconic Bay Medical Center
- Jennifer Pirraglia, Mental Health Counselor/Public Speaker
- Shawna Brickley-Rodgers, Brickley & Co. Appraisers of Fine Art, owner/appraiser
