Board Commends Students

During its regular meeting in late March, the Shoreham-Wading River Board of Education proudly honored several students for their outstanding achievements and heard from various groups about upcoming initiatives.

Miller Avenue Student Council presented on its activities for the year, and Girl Scout Troops 627 and 2776, which are comprised of fifth graders from Wading River School, shared an update on the Bronze Award they are working on and spoke about their Pollinator Garden Project that they will be installing at the HS near the apiary. Student artist Lyla Zwolak was celebrated for winning the Cozza Family Award in the 2026 Long Island’s Best: Young Artists at the Heckscher Museum. Additionally, three-time New York State Wrestling Champion, Gavin Mangano, and placers Andrew Dolson and Thomas Matias were honored.
