High School Robotics Teams Compete in VEX V5 Robotics Competition

The High School robotics teams enjoyed a great day of competition against some of the most skilled teams across Long Island during the VEX V5 Robotics Competition, held at John F. Kennedy High School in Bellmore on Jan. 24.
Both the A team, comprised of juniors and seniors, and the B team, freshmen and sophomores, had strong showings in the preliminary rounds, advancing to the competition’s elimination rounds. At this level, the A team utilized its innovative double park mechanism, a move very few teams can do, to propel themselves to the semifinals. The team’s run ended at the semifinal round in a close match with other top teams.
“We are excited to learn from this experience and will make many improvements to all aspects of our robot and strategies,” adviser Jacob Sigerson said.
The robotics teams will compete on Feb. 21 at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City.
