Second Graders Set goals for the New Year

Linda Burke's second grade class at Miller Avenue School welcomed 2026 in a special way this year by creating personalized flip books that captured both memories and dreams.
The colorful flip books were packed with student creativity and reflection. Students wrote about their favorite memories from 2025, sharing moments that ranged from family vacations to learning to ride bikes. The project also gave students a chance to learn something new as they researched and wrote about the history of New Year's celebrations and how people around the world mark the beginning of a fresh year.
Looking forward, the young writers set goals for themselves in 2026, thinking carefully about what they wanted to achieve both in the classroom and at home. Some students hoped to improve their reading skills, while others set goals like helping more at home or being a better friend.
This special project combined writing, art, history, and goal-setting into one meaningful keepsake that Mrs. Burke's students will treasure as they move through 2026. It's a wonderful reminder that new beginnings are always worth celebrating!
